Cherokee is a 1991 Dun Stallion that was captured in Kiger HMA in 1993.

Cherokee arrived at our ranch in 2000.  We have been impressed with
his consistency in producing offspring that possess magnificent
movement and great temperaments.  While he has only a few leg bars,
many of his offspring are very well marked with dun factor.

Cherokee is heterozygous for dun and possibly carries the sooty gene.
He will be tested for cream and pearl as he has thrown several
pale/creamy duns and grullas.

His offspring have strong Iberian presence with great ability to flex and
collect as well as extend and float across an arena and yet still maintain
the cowy nature that spanish mustangs are known for.  His offspring
have gone on to be working cow horses on ranches, steady trail horses,
endurance prospects, dressage prospects and even a winning reining
horse.

Cherokee is registered with the
Kiger Horse Association & Registry in
the Traditional category.  He is also registered with the Kiger Mesteno
Association & Sorraia Mustang Studbook.
Standing at Stud

Currently, we offer breedings here at the ranch.  We are exploring having
Cherokee collected for both fresh semen and frozen semen for the 2008
spring breeding season.  His 2008 fee is $500 LFG.  Mare care is extra.
Fresh/frozen semen will have an additional collection fee involved,
please email/call for details.

In winter of 2008, we will be in final planning stages of having Cherokee
collected for oversees AI breedings with EU compliance.  This will mean
that Cherokee will be available to those in Australia/New Zealand, Russia,
South Africa, and Europe for crossing for Kiger partbloods in those
regions.  For those that have imported Kigers to their country, new blood
will now be available.

If you are interested in being part of this endeavor, please
contact us
ASAP.  The EU compliance requires expensive quarantine and costly tests
in excess of $5000.00.  If sufficient number of people are interested in
participating, then EU collection expenses will be reduced to a nominal
fee per semen dose making the overall breeding fee acceptable to
everyone involved.

We currently have 3 people on the list for the
Cherokee EU Importation Project
We have been honored
that Cherokee was
chosen to be model for
